Inspector Sam Davies

My name is Sam Davies and I am the Neighbourhood Policing Inspector for Leigh, Atherton, Tyldesley and Astley Mosley Common. I manage a dedicated team of Sergeants, Police Constables and Police Community Support Officers, with my primary role being to set the policing strategy, direct the deployment of resources and seek to build strong working relationships with partners and key stakeholders.

During my service I have worked within various departments across the force. I have previous experience within neighbourhood policing, including working within Manchester Town Hall as part of the City Centre Neighbourhood Team.

Neighbourhood policing itself is extremely important as I believe that legitimacy is integral to the British model of policing by consent. At the very heart of this model is the concept that the police can only successfully carry out their work with the support and co-operation of the public. Neighbourhood policing forms the very bedrock of that relationship so it is vital that we engage, listen and understand what you need and importantly, how we can deliver it fairly and with respect.

It is fundamental my teams build trust and confidence with the communities they serve so we can all work collaboratively to build safer more connected communities which are welcoming and supportive to residents and visitors alike.

On these pages you can find our priorities which are centred around reducing anti-social behaviour, burglary and criminality involving drugs, whether that be use or supply. My teams work with a variety of different partner agencies across the borough in order to problem solve effectively with the goal of making sustainable positive change to the places you live whilst protecting the most vulnerable. As part of that drive I understand that we can’t get to where we need to go without you, so I urge you contact your local team and work with us to make our communities the very best they can be.
